The third Mersea Island Food, Drink and Leisure Festival was a huge success, with an estimated 6,000 visitors over the two days. The crowds were particularly in evidence on the Sunday, when, just like last year, the weather was much kinder than on the Saturday - the sun shone, and people packed the lawns, eating ice-creams, drinking Mersea beer and enjoying the entertainments on both the main stage on the top arena and in the 'acoustic tent' on the lower lawn. Members of the Coast Inn's Thursday Session and Moondance Club contributed to much of the weekend's music-making, with Liz doing a fantastic job organising sound for the whole event, as well as performing with Blackwaterside.
