Saturday - Regatta Song & Dance

To add to the fun and festivities of the West Mersea Town Regatta, this year's Commodore, Chrissie Westgate (Gamble) has organised a 2½ hour entertainment to be held on the Coast Road carpark from 5 o'clock, between the end of the ever-popular Watersports and the start of the Prizegiving.

This will be a free, fun and family-friendly event. Seafood and home-cooked refreshments will be available, together with a bar and soft drinks, and there'll be plenty of straw bales and barrels to sit on.
In previous years there has been a bit of a lull in the day's proceedings after the Watersports, when the crowds tend to drift away to find ways to fill the time before the Prizegiving and the spectacular Grand Firework Display. This year, Regatta Song & Dance will keep the waterfront buzzing with energy and provide a focus for families and visitors during the early part of the evening. So come along and support this new event, and bring your family and friends.

STOP PRESS: Now with added Pirates!!

Members of the Colchester Historical Enactment Society will be at the Song & Dance dressed in full 18th-century piratical gear, and joining in the fun. Ladies - this is your big chance to dance with a Real Live Pirate!!

Ahhhhaaaaaaaaaarrrr!

Tks to all who gave us such good late afternoon/evening entertainment on the waterside. I even had a go at the dancing bit and such a good audiance as well. So it rained for a few minutes but thats England in August for you. Hope the next years event takes the same format.

Well done guys - Brian
